why do so many christian faiths, or any faith in general, still go by what they're taught,

- even though they were made up by the church, but it binds people together to go to Church, or to pray the Rosary, and things like that
- a lot of symbolism is involved in the matter, and symbolism is something that makes humans relate to something better.
another thing is - that some people like myself, realise that the only thing thats really important at the end of the day is your faith in Jesus, nothing more,
changing religions or sect or factions - is more "political" than anything else, your belief is that of your own and not the Churchs'

even though I'm close to my priest and he knows my "sins" already, but I've never asked him for forgiveness and he knows that

and there was never a "standard" language, so Latin was made the standard language because it was the only one that everyone could agree to
- in England there was 4 strands of English, in France - 4 strands of French etc etc - so Latin was their universal language

I personally understand that power corrupts everyone
- and the church 400-600 years ago had such a strong hold on Europe,
and all it takes is for one wacky pope to go "kill the witches !" .. and so.. it was done...

I have a lot of issues with the Catholic church even today, nothing is perfect, but the church is too big to change,
and if it changes, then you would get more branching of more "sects" that liked the "old ways" much better

that's why i'm partial to the unitarian universalists - not that i'm into organized religion or anything, but they let ye believe whatever ye wanna
- but there was just a major break in even that small religion,

My parents are catholic and I was brought up to be one, and I see a lot of values that were taught to me that I appreciate to this day,
and I know for a fact those values were "Christian" - not "Catholic"
--- yet many people for some weird reason, view Catholics as "backwards" when at the end of the day they're all really preaching the same message.
