Aries
Fire / Cardinal
March 21 - April 20
The first sign of the zodiac, and first Fire sign, Aries expresses some of those qualities most purely (born leader, powerful, highly creativem high energy and enthusiasm, strong ego, individuality, etc). Aries is the most entrepreneurial sign, always generating fresh starts, new ideas and new methods. Business or the armed forces is their natural arena. Aries are self-motivated and are at their happiest when self-employed (or running their departments as if they owned them).

Aries is the first and primary Cardinal Quality, (born leaders, self-motivated, restless, ambitious, active, enterprising, independent, creative, spontaneous, forceful and domineering). An Aries' role is to project himself upon the world through firsthand experiences. Self-expression is paramount to this pioneering sign, and Aries likes to see how far he can go in exploring, discovering and experimenting with the world around him. Aries' fire element gives him supreme faith in himself along with a fierce sense of courage. His Cardinal nature makes him restless and in need of change for the sake of change. He is assertive too, and manages to get himself known in a fairly short time. Says Aries, "If I don't attract some attention to myself, how is anyone going to know me?" Right on, Aries! We can all learn from you. True to form, Aries does get to know the right people. (In Aries' case, the "right" ones tend to be venture capitalists or high level muckety-mucks who can make some splendid introductions for them!) Where would we be without Aries daredevils to push us forward?

Taurus
Earth / Fixed
April 21- May 21
The primary Earth sign, (ambitious, goal-oriented, responsible, structured, productivity, practicality, good timing, loyalty, caution, patience, stability, etc), Taurus seeks out security and material possessions. The Taurus sensuous nature and orientation toward tangible things also makes them wonderful museum curators, for they enjoy protecting and evaluating the value of precious artifacts.

The primary Fixed Quality, (concentrate energy, solidify ideas, responsibility, tradition, continuity, consistency, loyalty, devotion, reliability, etc), the Earth element of a Taurus' Fixed nature makes them focus on the accumulation of material possessions, and moves Taurus' to guard what they earn or accumulate. Since Tauruses have sensuous natures, they enjoy the tactile quality of tangible objects. They care for other people's property in the same responsible manner as their own, and often wind up in positions of professional guardianship. The insurance business is a perfect industry for Taurus, because of its focus on security. Tauruses are oriented to the here-and-now and need to see tangible fruits of their labors. In short, some signs don't mind being more famous than rich, but not Taurus. Being a practical earth element, they want to see the cash.

Gemini
Air / Mutable
May 22 - June 21
As the first Air sign, (intellectuality, objectivity, curiousity, social magnet, etc), Gemini quests to analyze, synthesize, and probe for the information they need to fully understand a topic or issue. This sign's need to communicate makes it the strongest of all the air signs. Many Geminis make superb writers. For this reason, the Twins are often journalists or editors - or wish they were, because they are happiest in news rooms, night clubs, airports or anywhere else where things just keep on happening.

The second Mutable quality, (prepare for change, highly adaptable, flexible, communicative, restless, resourceful, detail-oriented, etc) Gemini's need for stimulation can not be overstated. Highly intellectual, Gemini needs news and information like oxygen. Being an Air sign, Gemini enjoys the exchange of ideas with others - this is no loner. The sound of a phone's dial tone is as comforting to Gemini as the sound of a mama's heartbeat to a baby. One Gemini friend has confessed that her fax machine going off sounds like the love call between two mating whales, a sound that thrills her because it means news is on the way (we will be sure to get my friend professional help soon). Seriously, being an adaptable Mutable sign, Gemini's mind is always going at the speed of light. They can put various pieces of information together in a multitude of ways, and this makes them quite good at figuring things out, be they instructions to the VCR, the facts of a murder case, or the intricacies of the Congressional budget. Gemini can change their position as quickly as they assimilate new information, remaining at all times objective. Gemini's downfall? Their adeptness at handling several things at once can lead them to assume too much responsibility. At that point they can become scattered or begin to procrastinate. If they stay focused, they can accomplish more in a day than most of us do in a week.

Cancer
Water / Cardinal
June 22 - July 22
The primary water sign, (always emotionally reserved, sensitive, highly romantic, sentimental, psychic, sympathetic, empathetic, free, imaginative, creative, etc) Cancer expresses their element in the nurturing, preservation and protection of the family, which is the smallest unit upon which society is built, and yet the most important. Sharing love with spouse and children is of paramount importance to Cancer and they take the role of provider very seriously.

The second Cardinal Quality, (born leaders, self-motivated, restless, ambitious, active, enterprising, independent, creative, spontaneous, forceful and domineering), Cancer's role is to actively explore the entire realm of human emotion. That Cancer is both Cardinal and Water motivates this sign to explore new emotional states and experiences. As a Water sign, Cancer is the most subtle of the Cardinal signs when expressing his independence and ambition. But don't be fooled - those qualities are just as powerful within Cancer as in the other Cardinal signs, no matter how gentle a Cancer outwardly appears.

Astrologers often describe Cancer as moody, which can be true at times, but that description oversimplifies Cancers' rich textural nature and their ability to accept, initiate or even embrace change when they feel it is necessary. They have a capacity for sympathy and compassion that is unmatched by any other sign except fellow water sign Pisces. Cancers have a wide emotional spectrum, and they generally experience an inner life that combines higher highs and lower lows than the rest of us. Cancer wouldn't have it any other way!

Leo
Fire / Fixed
July 23 - August 23
The second Fire sign, Leo expresses its Fire element characteristics (born leader, powerful, highly creativem high energy and enthusiasm, strong ego, individuality, etc) in a more cultural, creative way. Leos are often gifted painters, playwrights, actors, or designers. But no matter what their occupation, there is always a bit of the performer in Leos. They treasure uniqueness and need to put their individual stamp on whatever they do.

The second Fixed quality, (concentrate energy, solidify ideas, responsibility, tradition, continuity, consistency, loyalty, devotion, reliability, etc), the Fire element of Leo's Fixed nature makes this sign powerfully self-expressive and many Leos are highly artistic and creative. This sign will latch on to an idea and wrestle it to the ground, not stopping until it is expressed in a manner which Leo believes is best. The lion is known as "King of the Jungle," and Leo will assert his or her masterful authority at all times--whether that authority be real or imagined. Their efforts are buttressed by one overwhelmingly attractive quality - self confidence. Few signs are as a good at psyching out their competitors and uncovering the secret to their success!

Virgo
Earth / Mutable
August 24 - September 22
The second Earth sign, (ambitious, goal-oriented, responsible, structured, productivity, practicality, good timing, loyalty, caution, patience, stability, etc) Virgo expresses this by guarding health, and perhaps working as a biologist, fitness instructor, or doctor. Virgo rules over the 6th house covering the well-being of the body, and also daily work procedure and service. So, another way Virgo expresses their earthiness is in their penchant for thorough research and solid organization, which they fine-tune for peak performance. Virgo's natural tendency is to refine whatever they tackle to the tiniest detail. Virgos make great writers, managers, librarians, accountants, and excel in areas where organization and precision are important.

The second Mutable quality, (prepare for change, highly adaptable, flexible, communicative, restless, resourceful, detail-oriented, etc) Virgo is even more practical than Gemini and just as intelligent. This sign seeks to devote its substantial communicative talents to concrete goals. Virgo is less likely than Gemini to become scattered by trying to do too many things, and yet more likely than Gemini to become bogged down in the details. Virgo's fastidiousness and precision is unmatched by any other sign. They polish their work until it shines, for Virgo's overwhelming desire is to feel productive. Don't tell a Virgo to relax and chill out, for most members of this sign have not quite mastered that ability. They feel badly if they waste time. Being an Earth sign, their powers of organization are amazing and it's this skill which gets Virgo tangible results they can measure, compare, assess and perfect (a Virgo word if there ever was one). But Virgo isn't rigid--far from it. Virgo's Mutability allows for a willing flexibility and razor-sharp course corrections mid-way, an asset Virgo keeps hidden up their laundered and starched white sleeve.

Libra
Air / Cardinal
September 23 - October 23
Symbolized by the scales, Libra strives for balance and the proper action and reaction. The second Air sign, (intellectuality, objectivity, curiousity, social magnet, etc), you will find many Libras in the judicial system (they make fine lawyers, judges or prosecutors) or in the arts - two areas where finding ideal proportion is critical.

The third Cardinal Quality, (born leaders, self-motivated, restless, ambitious, active, enterprising, independent, creative, spontaneous, forceful and domineering), Libras are great matchmakers and know how to get things cooking by introducing individuals to one another in relaxed social situations. This sign mixes with lots of people and communicates often, so a Libra alone is a bit of an oxymoron, or a bit like the sound of one hand clapping! Bewildered Libra would wonder what happened to the other hand. Trying to do anything without the "other half" of the unit seems pointless to them. Libras do their best work bouncing ideas off others and working in partnerships or team situations. Their active, authoritative, Cardinal quality brings them in contact with successful over-achievers like themselves, so they quickly build a data base of influential friends, associates, and contacts. (Need an introduction to advance your pet project? Ask a Libra for help--they will throw a party or arrange a lunch.) Since they're Cardinal, Libras can be bossy, but they express their dominance in such a charming way that others become easily (sometimes joyfully) wrapped around Libra's little fingers.

Scorpio
Water / Fixed
October 24 - November 22
The second Water sign, (always emotionally reserved, sensitive, highly romantic, sentimental, psychic, sympathetic, empathetic, free, imaginative, creative, etc), still waters run deep for Scorpio. Scorpio's domain is to investigate the two most personal of inter-relationships: sexual and financial transactions between individuals. (Social scientists tell us most people would sooner speak about sex than money - both, very private matters!) Scorpio's sexual side represents the sign's control over the perpetuation of the species. Symbolized by the phoenix rising from the ashes, Scorpio governs the 8th house, representing birth, death and regeneration. Scorpios have a shrewd business sense (the 8th house is also a financial one, ruling "other people's money") and therefore Scorpios make superb negotiators. Their mysterious nature inhibits them from giving away information to the other side.

The third Fixed quality, (concentrate energy, solidify ideas, responsibility, tradition, continuity, consistency, loyalty, devotion, reliability, etc), due to the Water element of this sign, Scorpio's role is to strengthen emotions and feelings - theirs and others - and make them permanent. Since their goal is to get others to reach a final agreement, commit to a strategy, and move forward, it is easy to see why they do so well in sales, negotiations, and interpersonal relationships. Scorpio's need for control can make them jealous or possessive. This can be a charming or not-so-charming trait, depending on whether or not they go off the deep end with it. ("There was a little girl with a little curl right in the middle of her forehead. When she was good, she was very, very good and when she was bad she was horrid." Very Scorpio, male or female.) Scorpios work in purposeful ways. You can always sense a wellspring of power simmering just under the surface.Want to change a Scorpio's mind? Good luck! Their Fixed nature can be maddening, yet their steadfast loyalty to those they love is also one of their endearing qualities. Their intense, smoldering passion (Water sign) makes them mesmerizing.

Sagittarius
Fire / Mutable
November 23 - December 21
The third and final Fire sign, Sagittarius directs it's Fire energy (born leader, powerful, highly creativem high energy and enthusiasm, strong ego, individuality, etc) internationally, through the initiative of education, research, travel, and scholarship. Sagittarius' calling is to collect, synthesize and protect historical knowledge, which is why this sign is so philosophical. Sagittarians are creative in the interpretation of the information they absorb, and use their knowledge to advance the understanding of humanity's universal citizenship.

The third Mutable quality, (prepare for change, highly adaptable, flexible, communicative, restless, resourceful, detail-oriented, etc), mixed with the Fire element, Sagittarius expresses its hefty intellect in the realms of philosophy and spirituality. People of this group also enjoy delving into the differences and similarities of various cultures. Sagittarius' Fire nature craves adventure and likes to feel a sense of exploration in the projects he takes on. Whereas Gemini focuses on the daily details of current events, Sagittarius focuses on the underlying moral or ethical implications of issues, past or present. Like all Mutable signs, Sadge is curious, but it's pro-active Fire element makes Sadge the sign most likely to explore and debate hypothetical situations (communication being the dominant quality of a Mutable sign). For a fun time, they listen to National Public Radio and watch Meet the Press. Keeping up with this high octane Mutable/Fire sign is hard, but well worth the effort.

Capricorn
Earth / Cardinal
December 22 - January 20
The third and final Earth sign, (ambitious, goal-oriented, responsible, structured, productivity, practicality, good timing, loyalty, caution, patience, stability, etc) Capricorn utilizes the practical element to communicate chain-of-command within large companies or in government. They know that without organization, large companies or government would be completely chaotic. Their respect for hierarchy leads them to increased career authority and social standing in their community. Capricorn usually excels by working within large companies, as leaders of their department, division or as company CEO.

The fourth and final Cardinal Quality, (born leaders, self-motivated, restless, ambitious, active, enterprising, independent, creative, spontaneous, forceful and domineering) Capricorn is a Cardinal sign who initiates activity with the end result in mind. They are not impulsive or impetuous - the Capricorn Earth nature sets goals and plans carefully. Unlike fellow Earth sign Taurus, a sign motivated by money, Capricorn's motivation is to maintain and improve their reputations. Prestige is candy to Capricorn, for they love being respected for their work. Anything they put their name on has to be the best they can do. They work with almost the same dedication and obsession of a Virgo (OK, I concede that Virgo is hard to beat in area of obsession and perfection.) Gaining honor or fame for its own sake will always interest Capricorn, especially if the position allows them to use their substantial leadership abilities. Why would a practical Capricorn accept a high profile position without a big salary attached? Earthy Capricorn realizes they can leverage the title for more responsibility and compensation later. Some people say that each of us is only two phone calls away from people in power. If that is true, and you want to reach someone high up in the stratosphere (the White House?) call your Capricorn first. They know all the right people - and eventually become part of the inner circle themselves.

Aquarius
Air / Fixed
January 21 - February 18
The third (final) and most inventive of Air signs (intellectuality, objectivity, curiousity, social magnet, etc), Aquarius uses its intellect to push technology as far as possible into the future through doing good with others. - and in so doing, raises the standard of living of their fellow man (Aquarius rules brotherhood and friendship). Examples of typical Aquarian occupations are: the natural sciences, new technology, or politics - because Aquarius cares about positive social change.

The fourth and final Fixed quality, (concentrate energy, solidify ideas, responsibility, tradition, continuity, consistency, loyalty, devotion, reliability, etc), mixed with Aquarius' foundation in Air - a communicative element - drives this sign to make their friendships permanent. Few signs take friendship as seriously as Aquarius, and they tend to keep, defend, and care for their friends over a lifetime. Another role of Aquarius is to create and found groups and organizations, for their natural domain is over the 11th sector. Being a radical sign ruling the future, some Astrology Zone readers may be surprised to hear Aquarius is a Fixed sign - one would expect them perhaps be Mutable. However, Aquarius' Fixed nature is demonstrated in their scientific and orderly minds and their insistence on maintaining strict procedures to insure they obtain the most accurate results. Aquarius does forge into the future, but not in the rash, impulsive way an Aries might. Rather, Aquarius insists on total objectivity--you won't find any emotionality or preconceived ideas. Their Fixed quality makes them dogged in their pursuit of discovery - and it is a rare Aquarian that does not eventually hit pay dirt with that kind of intent! After all, Aquarius is the sign of the inventor!

Pisces
Water / Mutable
February 19 - March 20
The third and final Water sign, (always emotionally reserved, sensitive, highly romantic, sentimental, psychic, sympathetic, empathetic, free, imaginative, creative, etc), Pisces is also the last sign of the Zodiac - and thus a compilation of all the signs that came before, which is why Pisces blends so well with other signs. Outer-directed, Pisces' deep spirituality leads them to help others on a one-to-one basis (unlike air sign Aquarius' approach: doing good with others). Pisces are moved to relieve any pain they perceive in another, and they stand ready to offer the very shirt off their back. Pisces rules sacrifice, and there is almost nothing Pisces won't do for a relative or friend in need.

The third Mutable quality, Pisces use their Mutable nature (prepare for change, highly adaptable, flexible, communicative, restless, resourceful, detail-oriented, etc) to explore and adjust to the feelings (Water's domain) of others around them. Since Mutable signs are communicative, Pisces takes the concerns of those around them seriously and will always offer information, sympathy, advice - whatever is appropriate to the situation. Pisces' ability to adapt is so strong that he almost literally becomes the person he is trying to help and he often does not see the borders of where he stops and the other person begins. This can be hard on Pisces, for long after the other person has settled whatever has troubled them, Pisces' strong intellect continues to chew on the ramifications and various issues involved. They need closure, so if you ask a Pisces for advice, be sure to let him know later what action you took and the results you experienced. If you don't, your Pisces will be in a perpetual state of anxiety over your condition. One last word: show appreciation to your Pisces. Taking too big an advantage of Pisces' good nature is a cosmic no-no.

Fire Signs
Aries (early spring) - Leo (mid summer) - Sagittarius (late autumn)

Fire signs are full of power and light. They are highly creative and burst with enthusiasm and energy. Fire signs enjoy playing with new ideas and concepts, so it is no wonder they are the trendsetters of the zodiac. Born leaders, others are drawn to these charismatic, natural sparklers. Their high ideals, broad vision, passion and assertive, can-do attitude is inspirational . . . and contagious. Fire signs have plenty of courage and initiative too, and for all these reasons, it has been said that fire signs rule the spirit and primal life force. Fire signs tend to have strong egos, so being the center of attention comes naturally to them. People of this group put a strong emphasis on individuality and independence, so don't hem them in.

Air Signs
Gemini (late spring) - Libra (early autumn) - Aquarius (mid winter)

Air signs are all about the movement and communication of ideas. These are the most intellectual of the signs. Restless and curious, air signs continually hunger for new ideas to chew on and they need lots of stimulation. They are rational, versatile, verbal, quick, and alert. They know that they can charm their way out of anything and are resourceful enough to make good things come from difficult situations. Gregarious and social, they love to collect information, study it objectively, and then disseminate it to everyone else. Air signs are the zodiac's information processors. Among the most unemotional and objective of all signs, they value truth and realism, see both sides of opposing issues, and can offer balanced views of each.

Earth Signs
Taurus (mid spring) - Virgo (late summer) - Capricorn (early winter)

The Earth element is all about imposing form, structure and foundation to projects, businesses and just about anything else that needs it, for earth signs build things. They are the producers of the Zodiac, the ones that make things happen. Earth signs turn dreams into reality, whether their own or those of people around them. They understand all the steps one needs to take, from drawing up a budget, to scheduling deadlines, to overseeing the work flow to completion.

Dedicated and responsible, you can count on an earth sign for good follow-through. Earth signs have a talent for harnessing available resources and making the most of them. A big part of their success is their "earthy" practicality. They are perceptive and realistic - you won't find any self-delusion here. Another earth sign asset is an uncannily precise sense of timing, a big advantage in any endeavor. They are loyal, patient and stable too, and their naturally cautious, conservative personality prevents them from rushing in and squandering time, money or labor. They prefer to make long-range plans. Highly ambitious and goal-oriented, this group has a powerful will to succeed and usually do.

Water Signs
Cancer (early summer) - Scorpio (mid autumn) - Pisces (late winter)

Water takes many forms--it can be a liquid, it can be a gas (as in steam), or it can be frozen. It can be gentle as a little babbling brook, or violent as a thundering tidal wave. Torrents of passion well within water signs and they feel things deeply. However, water signs are always emotionally reserved, no matter what impression they might give on the surface. Still water, it as been said, runs deep, and the mystery about water pertains to this group (especially Scorpio). A water sign will always become quiet or withdrawn when they are trying to sort things out. It will take some time to get to know them well, for they reveal themselves slowly. They realize their intense emotions hold tremendous power, and they tend to handle their feelings carefully. When they fall in love, water signs love with their whole hearts and all their devotion. Their sensitivity makes them highly romantic, even sentimental. Often psychic, water signs read your true intentions simply by reading your gestures and body language and will trust actions more than words (Pisces, particularly, has elevated this talent to high art).

Water cleanses us and sustains life on earth. Water is the universal solvent, breaking substances down - dissolving them - and taking on their qualities. Therefore, when you share a problem with a water sign, they take on your problem as if it were their own. Their ability to sympathize and empathize is awesome; you'll get their full attention, a shoulder to cry on, and some excellent advice to boot. Because they give of themselves so readily, water signs need regular time alone to regain their center. This element rules the soul. Water does not like to be confined and they will assert their strong need for freedom, no matter how gently it is expressed (unlike fire signs).

This is a highly imaginative group and very creative. Their observations on the human condition often inspire masterpieces of painting, music, photography, literature, or dance. Working in studios or small self-employed businesses (usually connected to the creative arts) appeals to water signs. Their right-on-target-intuition makes them succeed in financial areas too. (Fortune recently reported more self-made millionaires are Pisces than any other sign. Astrologically, we know Scorpios and Cancers are no financial slouches either!) Water signs specialize in private relationships, but their focus differs from sign to sign.

Cardinal Signs
If you are a Cardinal sign your job is to initiate the season. You are the leader which brings forth that season. Cardinal signs are pioneering and enterprising ~ Aries (early spring), Cancer (early summer), Libra (early autumn), and Capricorn (early winter).

As the "scout signs" which generate the seasons, Cardinal signs govern creativity. These signs are restless, active, self-motivated, ambitious, and they often are the leaders in their communities. They can be a bit domineering, but that comes part and parcel with their best qualities of being enterprising, independent, creative, spontaneous and forceful.

Fixed Signs
If you are a Fixed sign, you are the second month in that season and it is your job to maintain that season. Fixed signs concentrate energy and solidify ideas ~ Taurus (mid spring), Leo (mid summer), Scorpio (mid autumn), and Aquarius (mid winter).

The role of the Fixed signs is to maintain, uphold and defend positions, responsibilities, goals or desires in everyday situations. These signs are the least welcoming of change. Their role in the zodiac is to preserve tradition. Fixed signs are not easily distracted - they keep their hands on the steering wheel and their eyes on the road. They can be a bit stubborn or stuck in a rut, a down side of their ability to stay the course. Yet these signs are valued for their consistent, loyal, devoted, reliable and patient natures. Yes, they do hold strong opinions and at times they can be inflexible, but there are some areas in life that those traits are needed and even encouraged.

Mutable Signs
If you are a Mutable sign, your sign is the third (and final) month within each season. The role for these signs is to prepare for the transition to the next season and their traits are communication, flexibility, and destruction. Mutable signs are Gemini (late spring), Virgo (late summer), Sagittarius (late autumn) and Pisces (late winter).

The Mutable signs' prepare for change into the next season. This makes the people of this group highly adaptable, flexible and communicative. Throw a curve to a Mutable sign and they can turn on a dime, coming up with solutions faster than you can bat an eye. Mutable signs are restless and embrace change. They are the most resourceful of all the signs, and thus, they make much from little. They are highly detail-oriented, but should take care not to get so wound up in tiny particulars that they lose sight of the whole.

Sectors / Houses
The Building Blocks of Your Life

The Sectors, or "Houses" of the Zodiac are the different areas of your life and personality which are influenced by the movements of the planets. As the planets work their way around the Universe, they pass through these sectors. Some sectors influence your job, some influence your family, some your health. The planets were spread out in a specific formation throughout the sectors at your moment of birth, and this determined not only your astrological sign, but also your intellect, personal style, and pet peeves. Click on each of the sectors listed below to find out more.

1st Sector
The first sector suggests everything about you - what you look like, your personality, and what is important to you. It covers your ego, natural tendencies, your face to the world, your energy level, and fresh starts.

Special note: The ascendant is the sign which was rising on the horizon when you were born. It describes the first sector and can only be determined by an astrologer casting a custom chart for the exact time and place of your birth. All charts are converted to Greenwich Mean Time. If you have had your chart done and know your ascendant, you can read about both your sun sign and your ascendant sign in all forecasts and personality reviews in this column. The ascendant is the sign whose characteristics you adopted at birth and continue to express naturally. This explains why all those born under the same sun sign are not alike, since most of us are actually a combination of the sun sign and the ascendant.

The first sector is ruled by feisty, entrepreneurial, energetic Mars and by the first sign of the zodiac, Aries.

2nd Sector
Your money - the income you earn independently of others - comes under the 2nd sector. Financial matters, both gains and losses, are also covered here. Your sense of security, confidence, and tangible possessions are under this particular sector, too.

This sector is ruled by Venus, the planet of love and finances, and by the second sign of the Zodiac, Taurus.

3rd Sector
The 3rd sector rules the intellect, the mind, how you analyze problems, and your overall learning and communicative process. This includes writing, speaking, thinking, and reading. Other issues covered here are contracts and agreements, proposals, and self-promotion. This sector also covers your immediate neighborhood, short-distance trips, and all transportation issues, such as buying or selling a car, booking an airline ticket, or special appointments and meetings.

The 3rd sector also governs experiences in lower education (high school and earlier) as well as relationships with close relatives, such as sisters and brothers. Finally, the 3rd sector covers your perception of childhood experiences.

This sector is ruled by the intellectual, communicative sign of Mercury and by the sign Gemini.

4th Sector
Your residence, what it looks like, and how you feel about it fall within this sector. Your private family life comes under this sector, as would all matters of property, like the buying and selling of real estate, sectors, condos, co-operatives, or the leasing of an apartment. This sector also rules your parents, and how you will spend the later years of your own life.

The 4th sector is ruled by the nurturing Moon, and by the sign Cancer.

5th Sector
Your love life, romance, fun, and pleasure are covered here. It also rules all creativity, new ideas, hobbies, and the most powerful evidence of creativity, your children. While all your children are cove red by this sector, individual children are also covered by various other sectors - first child, the fifth sector - second child, the seventh sector - the third child, the ninth sector - and so forth. Games, chance and speculation come under this sector, as does the playing of the stock market. In astrology, playing blackjack and buying blue clip stock all fall within the same sector. This sector is ruled by the Sun, the giver of life and strength, and by the sign Leo.
6th Sector
Daily routine, work, and tasks that need doing are covered by this sector. The cusp of this sector will describe the nature of your work and your general work environment. This sector also rules those whom you employ to serve under you, whether at home (personally) or at work.

All pets and small animals also are ruled by the 6th sector. This sector rules the conscious mind and some matters of health. However, the first sector also rules health, so both have to be considered. Diet and exercise are covered in this sector, too.

The 6th sector is ruled by intellectual, objective Mercury and by the detailed and service-oriented sign Virgo.

7th Sector
Marriage, business partnerships, and people who represent you - such as an agent or lawyer - are covered by the 7th sector. Since the subject of love comes under the 5th sector, the 7th comes into play once there is a joint contract - oral, written, or just understood - toward some sort of common goal. Oddly enough, this sector also rules open enemies and lawsuits, if you have any. Most of the time you don't, because this sector must be virtually under siege with negative planetary action for thi s happen.

For most people, the 7th sector is most strongly indicative of the marriage partner. What they need most from that person and the rapport that develops can be seen in this sector.

The 7th sector is ruled by gentle, refined Venus and by the partnering sign of Libra.

8th Sector
Joint financial matters come under the 8th sector. Insurance claims, prizes, contests and lotteries, inheritance and other legacies, tax payments, bonuses, commissions, royalties, windfalls, mortgages, credit, loans, and venture capital all come under this sector. As you see, this involves other people's money and is generally unearned income (i.e., not your usual salary, which would be in the 2nd sector). This sector also indicates how well your partner will be doing financially.

Since gifts of all kinds are included in this sector, physical love - sex - is also included here. Your sexual energy, style, and needs are described in this sector. Note that in astrology, the 5th sector is love, the 7th is marriage and the 8th is sex - all different sectors. This sector also rules surgery, new life chapters, rebirth, and regeneration. It is also one of the two sectors ruling psychic experiences, the 12th sector being the other.

This sector is co-ruled by sexy and secretive Pluto and by the sign Scorpio.

9th Sector
Long-distance travel, international communication, foreigners, languages, and higher education (college and higher degrees) are the key areas covered by this important sector. It also rules philosophy, religion, literature, publishing, academia, and t he law.

All in-depth study, the higher mind, and mental exploration are covered by the 9th sector. Your in-laws would be described by this sector as well, as are all moral and ethical issues.

The 9th sector is ruled by happy and optimistic Jupiter and by the sign Sagittarius.

10th Sector
Fame, promotion, honors, career awards and chances, reputation, kudos from your company, and your status in the community are covered by this high-powered sector, located at the Midheaven (tip-top) point of the horoscope.

Like the first sector, the sign on the cusp of this sector indicates your profession, as well as the appearance and outward image you give to the world career-wise. This sector also covers judges, high-level authority, VIPs, government officials, and how predisposed they might be to help you. This sector is ruled by hard-working, serious Saturn and by the sign Capricorn.

11th Sector
This is the sector of hopes and wishes, what you aspire to realize in life. Friendships and other platonic relationships, such as contacts, associations, and networking, all come under the 11th sector.

Here you'll find groups of all kinds, like clubs, professional organizations, societies, and political organizations. Oddly enough, this sector can give a current clue to the financial condition of your employer. Humanitarian causes for the social good are governed by this sector, as are inte llectual pursuits.

The 11th sector is ruled by creative and scientific Uranus and by the sign Aquarius.

12th Sector
The 12th sector rules the subconscious mind, dreams, intuition, instinct, secrets, and all of the hidden side of life, including any behind-the-scenes or underground activity of which you are not aware or that you must keep confidential. Its rules ov er the subconscious extends to all psychotherapy and psychic experiences, as well.

Understanding the nature of your difficulties also falls in the 12th sector, but coming to terms with that difficulty would be the province of the 8th sector.

The 12th sector also governs rest, the finishing of a long cycle, and any and all confinement, such as in hospitals, nursing homes, or even jail. This sector also rules self-sacrifice (often as a result of another person's illness), suffering, limitations and secret enemies, if you have them -- but you probably don't. Lastly, this sector rules charity, especially on a one-on-one basis.

It's a little-known fact that all large animals come under the domain of the 12th sector.

The 12th sector is ruled by spiritual and self-sacrificing Neptune and by the sign Pisces.

Planets

The Sun
As seen from Earth, the Sun is the brightest star in the universe, the center of our solar system, and hey, it makes sense that it would be vital in any horoscope. The Sun sign is in fact what can be found in all magazine and website columns about astrology, including this one. Without the Sun, there would be no life. The Sun rules your will, your pride, your determination, your heart, health and vitality, recognition, purpose, and future goals. In short, the Sun is your ego, how you see yourself, as well as your current level of self-esteem. This planet also will give you information about your public self - that is, how others view you.

Being essentially masculine, the Sun also rules male authority figures - your father, a male boss, or an important male client; the prominent men in your life, like your current boyfriend or your husband; and to a lesser degree, any male children you might have.

The Sun illuminates any planet that it touches and offers a view of truth, so watch what I write about your Sun and how it relates to other planets in your chart.

So, you say, why aren't all members of each sun sign alike? Because, smarty-pants, you also have an ascending sign (or Ascendant), which is the sign most prominent on the horizon when you were born. But only an astrologer who casts your chart for the exact moment and location of your birth can figure determine the Ascendant in your horoscope.

The Ascendant is important, but don't get bent out of shape if you don't know yours. You can still tell lots by the Sun, including future cycles of expansion or constriction. Remember, the Sun gives you data on how you express your unique individuality - where your ego needs to put its energy. How the Sun is getting along with the tribe of other planets roaming your chart at the moment also means a lot!

The Sun rules the heart, the sign of Leo. It is no surprise that the Sun rules daylight. The Sun takes a year to circle the zodiac.

The Moon
The moon in your horoscope reveals your inner character, the part of you that isn't up front and out there, but rather hidden, at least until someone gets to know you better. The moon will reveal your deepest feelings, your instinct and intuition, your emotions, and your reactions. It also rules your private life, including your cozy nook, your private home environment. How you like to be nurtured is described by the moon, even for those independent types out there.

Since the Moon is feminine in nature, it rules your mother and how you see her, as well as any important females around you, including your wife, girlfriend, or a female boss. Yeah, even your ex-wife can be included here. Daughters too? Yes, could be, but not first in line when reading a chart - mother, grandma, or wife would be more likely to be described.

If the Sun is where you are heading (and it does this quite well), the Moon describes where you've been. That is, the moon rules your history, your background, emotional development, your roots. How easily you get your feelings out are shown by planetary aspects to the Moon. The Moon can also be another indicator of health in a chart, especially if you are female.

The moon rules the sign of Cancer, the stomach and breasts, and of course, moonlight. The moon spends 2 to 3 days in each sign a month and takes about 28 days to circle the zodiac. Every month there is a new moon, and depending where it falls in your horoscope, it is a good time to sow seeds - that is, to start new things. Two weeks later comes the full moon, and depending where that falls in the chart, it could be a good time to reap - other words, to crystallize events.

Mercury
This little planet is known as the winged messenger, the planet of communication and transportation of all sorts. It is a flexible, adaptive planet, which continually accesses new data and responds accordingly. Mercury represents non-emotional, highly rational objective thought, its placement in a given sign reveals your intellectual style. Therefore, all learning and assessing of information is ruled by Mercury, and when it retrogrades (something you will read about from time to time in my column) it tends to scramble information for everyone, making it a highly unreliable time for anyone to sign contracts or make important decisions. This is one of the few universal aspects which will effect every sign in my predictions.

This planet governs your speech and how well you get your ideas across. The sign and house in which Mercury resides will tell you lots about your natural style of gathering and dispersing information. When Mercury is stressed out, others will challenge your opinions, or you may talk too much. However, when it's in harmony with the other planets in your chart, it's a great time to write that contract, buy a new car, or even give a speech.

Mercury also rules sibling relationships, maps, letters, postal matters, travel plans, appointments, roadways, vehicles, advertising, publishing, sales, and public relations. And yes, it rules on-line services, but not cyberspace itself, which is under Aquarius. It even rules Fed Ex and other express couriers.

Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo and, of course, the most adaptive element of the universe, quicksilver - known as mercury. Mercury spends about 2-3 weeks in each sign, but when it retrogrades, which it does 3 to 4 times a year, it can stay in one sign as long as 10 weeks. Never far from the Sun, it takes about a year to circle the zodiac.

Venus
Venus rules your affections, your heart, love life, and your pleasures, including gifts, or even financial luck.

Legendary feminine planet of good looks and beauty, fashion, adornment and art, Venus makes our lives prettier and more fun - the icing on the cake of life. It can create opportunities to hear music, eat good food, smell intoxicating perfume, see a great art exhibit, or seduce your lover. As you see, it is not a vital planet, but as they say, man does not eat by bread alone. What a dreary world it would be without Venus!

One thing to know about Venus - it's hedonistic but not ethical! Saturn takes over in that department. Here's an example of how Venus works. A good aspect of Venus could encourage you to indulge, but unless Saturn was nearby in your horoscope to advise you about the consequences, you could throw caution to the wind, whether by eating or drinking too much, spending too much money or by having a one-night stand, one which makes you feel like a jerk in the morning. On the other hand, with a level attitude, a terrific aspect to Venus could help you find cool new threads that get you tons of complements, be pleased with the way your new hairdresser styled your hair (finally!), find a check in your mail box, or discover a new scent your lover magically can't resist!

Like Mercury, Venus stays close to the Sun. It stays in a sign for 2 to 3 weeks, unless it retrogrades, in which case it can stay in a sign over 4 months and take from 10 to 12 months to tour all 12 signs. Venus is the natural ruler of Taurus and Libra.

Mars
Mars is known as the planet that energizes other planets or sectors of the zodiac, the planet most likely to cause something to happen - a good thing in most cases, since who wants more of same-old, same-old? Aggressive, assertive, forceful, energetic, courageous, competitive, and daring, this feisty little hot planet governs the whole spectrum of masculine events, from sex to war. It's not surprising that it's known as the Warrior planet, known for its courage, passion and pure strength, and its ability (when in harmony) to help you outlast and outdistance adversaries. Mars governs all sharp instruments, fire, and anything combustible.

Mars is needed to be harmonious in any endeavor which requires endurance and determination. When its rays are good, Mars has an ability to lend a nearly survival-type instinct to any situation. Mars allows you to keep on trucking, even when the roadway gets rough. If there is too much Martian energy around, anger or danger of an accident (physical or emotional) could erupt. If you are looking for a sense of spirit or gusto in just about anything, look to see what Mars is up to in your chart.

Mars takes 2 years to go around the zodiac, staying in each sign most commonly for six weeks, but if it retrogrades back and forth in a sign, it can settle in for as much as seven or eight months! It is the natural ruler of Aries, and the co-ruler of Scorpio.

Jupiter
Jupiter is known as the lucky planet because it expands whatever it touches, including opportunities in the sector it is visiting. It is such a fortunate planet that it also rules wealth and tangible, solid, financial gain. Additionally, Jupiter brings vision, faith, optimism, loyalty, justice, confidence and even wisdom. Jupiter paints a broad picture and makes you want to think big. Think about this: take all the planets in the solar system except the Sun, which is really a star, and put them together. Jupiter is physically larger than all those other planets put together. That's why we call Jupiter the big expansive planet, the Great Benefactor.

Sometimes Jupiter endows a mood to philosophize and find a higher meaning or purpose in the sector it visits. This planet encourages education, especially higher degrees. Since long-distance travel is a factor of the education sector, Jupiter, if activated in your chart, could send you packing for a whole variety of reasons.

Jupiter is the natural ruler of Sagittarius and takes 12 years to circle the zodiac, giving each sign luck for one year.

Saturn
Saturn is the planet of thoughtful concentration, permanence, tangible rewards, tenacity, ambition, and productivity. This taskmaster planet also rules caution, delay, constriction, limitation, responsibility, rules and regulations, pain, fear, learning the hard way, authority, discipline, control and denial. Before you say, "Ugh! Say something else depressing, why don't you," consider this: without Saturn, we would have little or no progress, because we would have no discipline, no standards, no controls, no final tangible evidence of hard work - just chaos.

As my mother used to say, "Man learns through pain." She was right - which is why we have parking tickets, among other things. Saturn is not a planet that tolerates short cuts, nor does it let us get away with anything. It grabs us by the collar and forces us to face up to things, especially things we have been avoiding. Whatever Saturn currently touches in your chart will go through a kind of slow-down or freeze. Saturn rules lead, so you get the picture. But it's through this down-shifting that Saturn does its best work, teaching us the value of maturity, patience, and sacrifice, either for later gratification or for the good of someone else (a rather radical idea to those of our generation).

Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn. It rules the base structure of things, like teeth and bones and the organizational hierarchy of a company, as well as historical, artistic, or archeological artifacts from the past. It takes 29 years to circle the zodiac, staying in each sign for 2 1/2 years.

Uranus
Uranus is the planet of surprise and all that is unexpected. It also rules the future and all new technology - all that has just been invented and all that is yet to come. Yes, the Internet and all of cyberspace come under the domain of Uranus, sure to be right up the ally of any Pathfinder reader. Innovative, unpredictable, resourceful and experimental, Uranus also rules pure creativity and even genius. This planet also rules the breaking up of any established patterns or structures, creating sudden - even radical - change.

Uranus gives a strong impulse for rebellion, independence, and even shock. Exciting and liberating, Uranus can turn over anything traditional, conventional or orthodox in its path which it deems no longer of value or having outlived its usefulness. This planet produces quick, liberating results, blending fact with intuition in its quest to discover universal truths. Yet because it is considered the higher octave of the highly intellectual planet Mercury, Uranus is strongly objective, rather than emotional. Those with strong Uranian influences in their charts are trailblazers and forerunners in their crowd. Since Uranus also holds sway over social change, it also regulates the global brotherhood of man and all humanitarian concerns, including environmental issues.

Uranus rules the sign Aquarius and electricity. It also rules astrology, and most good astrologers have a prominent Uranus in their charts (yes, you are in good hands - I have Uranus on the horizon, exactly on the "ascendant"). This planet stays in a sign for seven years and therefore takes 84 years to circle the zodiac.

Neptune
Neptune, being the higher octave of Venus, brings beauty to a higher, more spiritual level. It also holds rule over dreams, the subconscious mind, illusions, fantasies and all things magical and enchanting. Neptune adds to intuition (which is governed mainly by the Moon) and is nothing if not compassionate. It is for this reason that Neptune often requires a selfless sacrifice for the good of someone else. Neptune imparts a giving spirit and instills one with the ability to sympathize deeply.

Neptune refines, purifies, cleanses. Any planet visiting Neptune will come away purer for it, since Neptune cannot bear coarseness. Highly sensitive, Neptune helps us become sensitive to subtlety, and therefore increases the artistic side of the personality. Neptune rules all communication which is done with symbols or gesture, such as photography, film, ballet and other dance arts, music, painting and poetry. It also rules the sea and all other bodies of water (no matter how small), rain, ice and anything frozen, liquids of all kinds (including beverages and alcohol) and drugs, both the bad ones which make us suffer and the good ones which make us well.

Neptune is, after all, The Mist, and makes us want to escape mundane, everyday reality into a more ideal, heavenly state. It urges us to excel and to exceed boundaries, rejecting any and all limitations. But since the Mist alters reality, there are times that Neptune clouds issues and makes it hard to decipher facts. Neptune can make us deceive ourselves (or be deceived by others), or just make us misunderstand or be misunderstood. It rules all that is glamorous and sparkling, but bear in mind that Neptune's visions are not very real. But, hey, it's Saturn's job to give us cold, hard truth. We need a planet to inspire us too, and that is Neptune's province.

Neptune is the ruler of Pisces. It takes 146 years to circle the zodiac, with a stay of about 14 years in each sign.

Pluto
Pluto rules the phoenix as it rises from the ashes in transformation, the symbol of rebirth and ultimate survival in the never-ending cycle of beginnings and endings. Its ability for metamorphosis cannot be overemphasized. If its cycle is active in a chart, this planet can aid an individual in his triumph over all odds.

Pluto intensifies and strengthens any sector or planet that it touches. It also rules obsessive behavior, taboos and compulsions, even crisis, and covers many fundamental issues, including life and death itself (the ultimate transformation of energy). Pluto rules all that is hidden, unseen or buried, including secrets, undercover work (such as detective or spy work) strategic planning, and even the roots of plants or vegetables. It also rules the unearthing or unmasking of whatever has remained concealed below the surface.

Pluto takes 246 years to circle the zodiac, with a stay ranging from 11 years to 32 years in a sign! It has rule over the sign of Scorpio.

Mercury Retrograde

At several points throughout the year most of us will be bombarded with the maddening effects of Mercury in retrograde. Mercury is a planet which governs all transportation and communication issues. Mercury is not an emotional planet, but rather a highly objective, truth-seeking one. It rules intelligence, education and truth. When it is in retrograde, some of its power is held back.

When Mercury starts turning in an apparent backward motion, we will start to feel the effects of this event days or even as far as two weeks earlier. When the planet normalizes we will see the tempo of events pick up in our lives as the planet becomes "stationary" and then speeds forward.

Gemini and Virgo are signs ruled by Mercury, so if you are one of those born during those months, you will be complaining especially loudly. If you work in the industries ruled by this planet such as sales, writing, public relations, advertising, publishing, air freight, the post office or express mail, any transportation industry, from the airlines to Amtrak, you'll also be especially vulnerable to this planet's weird motions in September. (If you are a Gemini, for example, who works in publishing, it's no use calling in for a month of mental health days--you can't escape!)

What happens when Mercury retrogrades? You miss appointments, your computer equipment crashes, checks get lost, you find the car you just purchased during Mercury retrograde is a lemon. (Or, you hate your haircut, the lamp you bought shorts out, your sister hates her birthday gift.) There will be countless delays, cancellations and postponements--but know these will benefit you in the long run. Don't fight them, although your frustration level and feeling of restlessness will be hard to cope with at times.

All machinery and things with moving parts - such as computers, VCRs, camera equipment, garbage disposals, and so forth, will reveal any weak links now. It is critical that you back up your data system and be more careful and vigilant than ever. Projects will demand more time and money than anticipated this month.

In matters of the heart, if your boyfriend or girlfriend breaks up with you or says something hurtful, take a wait-and-see attitude. Since Mercury rules speech, they may not mean what you think they are saying now. Let them have some space, and wait to see if they mean in October what they said in September.

When traveling, leave early and allow for extra travel time. Have all bags double-taped closed, count your belongings, double-check addresses and reconfirm appointments. Things get lost when Mercury messes us up. Take NOTHING for granted. The sector of your chart that Mercury happens to be skating through will be effected most dramatically, so check your forecast!

Why would the Universe give us Mercury retrograde? Because to move forward it is sometimes necessary to backtrack and reconfigure our paths in life. It is important to reconsider, repair, reflect, and reconnect. Mercury forces us to slow down and fix what's broken, and in so doing, rethink things. It also gives us time to get to projects we have put on the back-burner.

Some activities are lucky or actually improve when Mercury retrogrades. You are likely to bump into old friends that you haven't seen in years. Adopted children tend to find their birth parents during Mercury retrograde periods, or people locate their long lost siblings.

Prosecutors often find clues to crimes that had previously remained unsolved for years. (Although sometimes the reverse is true - there is a greater danger, or example, that police can bungle evidence during a Mercury retrograde period, for clear thinking doesn't come easy for any of us then.) Mail that went astray weeks or even years ago shows up during Mercury retrograde. Some things that were lost reappear.

Now is also a good time to dress old wounds, clean up relationships or to simply bury the hatchet. Some people have great breakthroughs in psychotherapy during a Mercury retrograde period. For salesman, it is a positive time to backtrack over previous contacts rather than call on new ones. It is a perfect time to schedule work on projects that you haven't had time to do and you've let pile up. Bring your resume or portfolio up to date, and clean out your closets. Take time to paint the house. Clear your decks.

Just try not to start new things. If you have to start a job during a Mercury retrograde period know that the nature of the job is likely to change dramatically over time. Perhaps the person you report to will leave, or your responsibilities will be very different from what you thought they would be. Or your company won't be ready to take you on, and you won't have much to do until things are reorganized. But remember, if this was a position that you tried for in the past, then you've got the vibes working for you rather than against you.

Finally, what about people born with Mercury retrograde? If you are due to give birth to a baby during this period, don't fret. The ancients felt that this aspect lends a more philosophical tone to the character. Mercury rules thinking, therefore an individual born with this aspect tends to reflect deeply over events and issues throughout their lifetimes. In this case, having this aspect could be a big plus! Your astrologer was born with Mercury retrograde - so relax!

Eclipses
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon stands between the Sun and Earth, cutting off the light of the Sun. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth stands between the Moon and the Sun, cutting off the light of the Sun from the moon. What does this mean to you? How can you best deal with eclipses?

  1. Eclipses are dramatic "wild cards" in our horoscopes. Just as we were feeling comfortable, they shake up our thinking so that we might move forward to a new level of evolution and maturity. Events that follow an eclipse have more weight than events brought on by a simple new or full moon. They may bring events that are "fated". Eclipses always bring unexpected changes of direction if your chart is to be touched. The eclipse does not have to fall in your sign to have that happen. (Read your forecast to find out.) However, if an eclipse falls on your birthday, the year that follows certainly will be eventful, possibly even exciting.

  2. Eclipses bring benchmark news of life's big events: births, marriages, promotions, important travel, business deals, and so forth. For example, you may leave one job for a better one or start a business. You could get a new place to live or discover your roommate is vacating, perhaps without warning! An eclipse can reward you for hard work done and catapult you to fame. Or an eclipse can offer a reality check with the difficulties that transpire, forcing you to examine your behavior.

  3. Eclipses shine the bright light of truth to the part of your life that is touched by the eclipse. Most of the time, eclipses act as course correctors. You will feel enlightened and aware of the elements in a situation. You will see, perhaps for the first time, the true character of those who play a major role in the eclipse.

  4. To illustrate this point, imagine a puzzle piece falling out of the sky into your hands. This new piece of information, when added to the overall picture of an existing situation will change your view of its complexion and bring you a flash of insight. You may find yourself saying, "For the first time, I understand!" You now have a complete picture and thus can make a fuller, more realistic appraisal of what that episode means to you, and what you must do next. You gain maturity and seasoning.

Even if an eclipse won't effect you (and I will tell you in your forecast), you will nevertheless note plenty of action around you, not only in your own circle but also in the world at large (via the media). There is a feeling of life moving on speedily, fast forward, of great acceleration.

  5. With all eclipses, something ends and something else begins. During an eclipse period, you may feel like you are walking across a bridge to a brand new place. It is unlikely you can go back to where you originated, because later you will feel more sophisticated and enlightened.

  6. React and respond to others but do not initiate under the influence of an eclipse. It is better to listen than to act. The ancients always wrote that if you act under an eclipse, the plan will never work out quite the way you expect. Consider the ideas of others but do not make proposals or decisions of your own at that time.

You could be feeling more emotional than usual, especially if the eclipse is lunar (full moon). Since your judgment may be impaired or pieces of information missing, try to get as much time as you can to think about what's going on. If you can, wait a week's time before you have to decide. If someone comes to you with a proposal, consider it carefully. If after looking at it from all sides, you like it, proceed.

  7. Realize, however, that it may be impossible to get much time to think about your response - you'll probably be urged to be nimble and quick. Have your wits about you! Keep your normal schedule light as you approach eclipse time, for almost always the eclipse brings something new to focus on.

If you should suffer under an eclipse, for example, by losing your job or by breaking up with your sweetheart, realize the other person may have acted in haste. (Remember the eclipse time rule: react rather than act at eclipse time for best results. Apparently this other person in your life didn't do that!).

  8. Eclipses can help you do things you never thought you could do. They also bring events you thought were months or even years ahead that happen immediately and can't be ignored. Here is an example of how an eclipse often works:

You are riding a horse in unfamiliar, beautiful terrain. You were told that you would have to jump a tall stone fence (a substantial obstacle or big-deal project) five miles down the road (later in life). Distracted by the scenery (life) you forget about the fence, until it looms suddenly in front of you. You don't feel ready to jump (take a risk). You cannot imagine going over that fence and surviving! This is a big stretch for you! Yet, it symbolizes something you want to do, so you feel conflicted (fear vs. wanting). Perhaps you momentarily panic or try to stop. However, the horse (your inner power) has been trained to jump and before you can pull on the reigns, you find yourself flying through the air. The horse is doing it for you. You land perfectly. The horse is fine and so are you - but you feel shaky.

It all happened so quickly! You knew the fence was coming up, but being distracted by the scenery (everyday life), you didn't expect it so soon. Now, however, you feel quite accomplished - proud of what you did, and rightly so! Had it not happened without time to think, you may not have had the courage to try. This, dear reader, is the feeling brought on by an eclipse.

  9. Most eclipses are felt within four days of the actual date of the eclipse. Yet you can sometimes feel a full moon lunar eclipse as early as two weeks prior to it or up to six months later. (Most likely it will occur a month to the day later, plus or minus four day - that is your zone to watch if things don't happen immediately). Take notice of news and signals you get near the eclipses. While often news is dramatic and obvious sometimes the news will come subtly, as secret or as gossip, but nevertheless will be quite telling of rather dramatic changes to come.

Solar eclipses work somewhat differently than lunar eclipses, and emphasize beginnings. (Something may also be ending but the attention is more on the start than the finish.) The changes could phase in over a period of months. Still, the news or timing of those changes often come as a surprise. If a solar eclipse falls on or within a few days of your birthday you will certainly feel the effects of it over the course of the year. Changes will be complete by time you reach your next birthday.
