once some kid tried to steal my bike -
i said, "sure you can ride it if you like" -
he took it bout a mile to show his friends -
to see what he could get for it, i guess -
so i come back home from sleepin late one night -
and my pretty little indian's nowhere in sight -
but i soon saw it round the back of the house -
just so me heartbeats can come back around -
turns out me groovy neighbor had put it there -
cuz that other mean kid broke into the back yard -
but somethin had scared him, so he ran back home -
dropped my bike on our long grown front lawn -
pretty little indian moped ride i loved to drive, went all the windy way up to 35 -
my buddy comes up to me one day -
i'd lost my liscense, so he did say -
i could have the bike for a real fine price -
i tellya mopers, that sure was nice -
i'd take it way out to the real nice hoods -
took sidestreets there, i was lookin real good -
but once on the way back to me place -
someone threw hot coffee in my face -
that same kinda thing happened to me before -
when i was 15, here i was about 24 -
on a ten-speed that time, still on the east side -
back then, someone asked me if i was alright -
pretty little indian moped ride i loved to ride, n groovy lil helmet with my walkman inside -
so i'm ridin again down the main road drag -
around christmas time, coat's wrappin me bags -
freezin my breath at a lonely late light -
so i started her up n got a terrible fright -
i'm barely balanced, n goin about 5 -
here comes some kids, n they got the green light -
trapped like a turtle, i saw the hood hit my knee -
n i woke up later in the middle of the street -
i remember angels or somethin lookin at me -
hurryin up to put me back in my body all groovy -
before i was fully awake, n would know what i see -
so i can't tell you now what we're meant to be -
pretty little indian moped ride i loved to drive, n if i'm a cat, it's where i lost one of my lives -
so that was the last time i ever saw my bike -
if you find it, you can ride it, if you like -
they towed it away to the same ol place -
where they once took a car i once ran outta brakes
